Vicky IronsideMA, VetMB, CertVC, MRCVS

I qualified as a vet in 1989 and have always worked in small animal practice. For the past 26 years my work has been in and around Sheffield and this is where I enjoy living with my family.   I have had a post graduate qualification, previously known as a Certificate in Veterinary Cardiology, since 1997.   This middle tier level is equivalent to a Masters Level 7 and is now known as Advanced Practitioner (cardiology).

For some years I have worked as the cardiologist in a selection of practices.  Most of my work is with patients at those practices but I do see cardiology cases from other veterinary surgeries. At Hallam Veterinary Centre I have the pleasure of working with a fellow small animal cardiologist, Phil Tricklebank.

I greatly enjoy meeting new owners & pets, as well as looking after those whom I have known for years.   I understand that some owners may wish to do everything possible for their pet with heart disease and others wish only to take things a little further. I think that it is very important to find the right level of testing and treatment for individual owners and pets and to make sure that the owner understands as much as possible about their pets condition.

There are always new developments to learn about and old ones to brush up on and I have always had great enthusiasm for veterinary CPD (Continuing Professional Development).  I enjoy many forms of CPD including attending conferences, spending time with top tier Cardiologists and taking part in studies and trials .

Many of the vets working with me, have known me for a long time and my aim is to continue to provide them with a local, friendly, accessible cardiology referral service.
